Are you a procrastinator?
We all procrastinate from time to time. Whether it is washing the dishes, going to the gym, starting that diet, or finishing the book. When procrastination grows from being a "once in the while annoyance" to sabotaging us from success; we have developed an issue with procrastination.
Could you be a procrastinator? Take this quiz and find out.
- Do you often come up with excuses to postpone your work?
- Does your life feel full of obligations that you struggle to meet?
- Do you find yourself putting off important jobs to carry out unimportant tasks?
- Do you talk about projects with no clear terms of when the project is to be completed?
- Do you spend a lot of time researching a project or task but never get around to starting or finishing it?
- Do you keep starting new projects before finishing the existing ones?
- Do you delay working on important tasks until the last minute and use the panic to motivate you to move?
- Are you easily distracted by other things?
- Do you find yourself wasting time just before working?
- Does your procrastination create stress or anxiety?
- Has your procrastination ever affected your personal or professional relationships?
If you have answered "yes" to 4 or more questions, procrastination may be becoming a serious issue with you that can sabotage your success as well as negatively affect your friendships and family relationships.
Tips to overcome procrastination:
- Make lists
- Over-estimate the tme you think it will take to accomplish a task
- Stick to time limits
- Break up big jobs into smaller tasks, that can be accomplished within a short time frame
- Ask yourself what could be the subconscious reasons for this self-sabotage?
- Consider if it could be due to fear of success or failure
- Consider if it could be due to rebellion
- Consider if it could be due to feeling overwhelmed
- Consider if it could be due to not feeling competent
- Consider if it could be due to depression
- Consider if it could be due to lack of motivation, to name a few
The clearer you are on the reasons behind this self-sabotage, the easier it will be to find the tools to overcome the chronic procrastination.
